Located in the town of Bexleyheath in Kent, D & T Wise has been a big part of the BMW scene for over 20 years. Formerly Known as B.M.Wise,the company changed its name in December 2009 following a seven-year dispute with BMW AG over copyright infringement. With its new name and company art work the firm continues to deal solely with BMW's and MINI. Starting out in the motor trade with his father, owner Dan Welsh has always been involved in cars, with the independent starting after he brought himself a BMW, took it apart and started selling the parts. As the business began to increase, Dan Bought himself a unit and it all went on from there. Although D & T Wise started out by selling parts, Dan says this is no longer an aspect of what the company offers. With tight laws on licensing parts and reliability issues, the firm was forced to take a new direction and now offers highly successful servicing and repairs including diagnostics and programming using award-wining Auto Logic technology. Being an official signed agent to Auto logic, the firm can offer exactly what you can get at a main dealer but at a fraction of the cost. This technology allows the firm to diagnose faults while also offering services such as ECU remapping and coding. With the firm offering all the latest facilities, Dan says business is booming as customer's are starting to leave main agents after receiving poor service and excessive bills. And with between 40 and 50 cars entering the workshops every week, the firm has built quite a reputation for itself around the UK. Around 90 per cent of D & T Wise’s trade comes from repeat business, with some customer's travelling from as far as Devon for the guy’s service. Interestingly, the firm has seen this loyalty prove particularly strong with female customers, who appreciate open and honest advice in an approachable fashion. According to Dan, word of mouth has also helped attract new customers, who often find the dealers intimidating and are then reluctant to revisit after a bad experience. The company works on all manner of BMW's and Dan says they are recently finding themselves particularly busy with X5's. A popular used buy, he says that people often quickly become one, with repairs proving to be expensive. Getting a second opinion from an expert is something Dan highly recommends to anyone in the market for a used X5. The firm is currently dealing with several X5s that have covered upwards of 80,000 miles and are in need of new bushes, ball joints and axle bushes, with bills totalling up to £3000.00. As far as he future is concerned, Dan says D & T Wise is planning to move to a bigger premises within the area in order to offer better customer parking and ultimately increase business. He also points owners in the direction of the company's new website.
